# Phase 2 Report - Server-Authoritative Spin Engine

Date: 2026-07-15
Scope: Prompt 3 / Phase 2 only.

## Summary

Implemented server-authoritative spin engine scaffolding and deterministic test coverage:

- Outcome rules for normal wins, Made in Heaven events, and non-winning outcomes.
- Default normal win rate 0.05 clamped to 0.02-0.10.
- Default protected event rate 0.005 clamped to 0.0-0.02.
- Uniform conditional target selection over the 17 replaceable identities.
- Protected match semantics for any three protected symbols.
- Non-winning generation that rejects accidental normal/protected matches.
- Logical-symbol-to-40-stop mapping for all three reel strips.
- Signed short-lived spin authorization shape.
- PHP route/service skeletons for `POST /api/v1/weddings/{publicId}/spins` and `POST /api/v1/spins/{spinId}/complete`.
- Idempotency-key, session spin-delay, paused/closed state, forged completion, and expiry rejection hooks.
- Client spin controller and web shell button that request server authorization and only apply returned target stops.

## Test Evidence

`node tests/phase2/run-phase2-tests.mjs` includes a one-million-outcome deterministic simulation and verifies:

- Normal win rate within 0.001 of 0.05.
- Protected event rate within 0.0003 of 0.005.
- Conditional target distribution across 17 identities with chi-square threshold.
- Zero accidental matches in non-winning generation.
- Stop mapping always resolves.
- Signed authorization commitment rejects forged payloads.
- PHP backend contains idempotency, spin delay, paused/closed, expiry, and forged-completion rejection hooks.
- Client spin controller does not decide wins.

## Deferred Or Blocked

- PHP runtime is unavailable in the local Codex environment, so PHP syntax and runtime endpoint tests remain blocked until Docker/CI with PHP 8.3 is used.
- Persistence currently uses the Phase 0 file-backed development store. MySQL repository implementation remains future backend hardening work.
- Claim entitlement creation is intentionally not implemented until Phase 4.
- Realtime event fan-out is intentionally not implemented until Phase 3.
